Statesville, North Carolina . . . . .

New Year's Resolution ...... blog more often with some type of consistency.

Still working on that one ..... In my defense, I had some great sales at my last show and on the internet.  I had some catching up to do with wool-dyeing!

The next show is this weekend in Statesville, North Carolina ..... just above Charlotte.  I have some new items for this show that I didn't even have two weeks ago in Sanford.

First, I now have my charm packs in creams .....

And the new Primitive Quilts and Projects magazine is out and will be with me.

There are some great projects in this issue including at least SIX with wool!  Cheryl Wall's quilt is on the cover!!  Way to go, Cheryl!

This year at the Statesville show, Sew Original (a quilt/sewing/Bernina store located in Winston-Salem and Boone, NC) will be giving away not one but TWO Bernette 46 sewing machines.  One at 2:00 on Friday and one at 2:00 on Saturday.  You must be present to win.

There will be over 35 vendors there with a little of everything from knitting yarn, handmade buttons, Jim Shore figurines, to quilt shops, to long-arm dealers, to featherweights to WOOL!  Jim Shore's wife, Jan, will be there with the most wonderful selection of rickrack, vintage fabrics, ribbons, beads and baubles.  Susan Edmonson has a slew of altered art objects and YLI Threads will be there with their selection of threads for almost every purpose.

Show runs this Friday and Saturday from 9am until 5pm at the Statesville Civic Center in downtown Statesville.  Entrance fee is $5.00.  There is a $1.00 off coupon on the www.quiltersgallery.net website.

Hope you can make it!

It's been a very busy week.  The show in Sanford was wonderful.  It was great to see Faye (Carolina Stitcher) and Judy (Jaytee's Patchwork Place) again as well as other non-bloggy friends that I have met over the past 3 years.

Monday and Tuesday found me in the dye pots again.  Today I was supposed to be dyeing wool again but it was just too rainy and cold to be hauling water from the garden spigot into the Wool Barn and out again.  So I spent the day sewing a new Spring sample.  It was nice getting behind the sewing machine again.

These are 24 paper-pieced carrots as part of a cotton pieced/wool appliqued wall hanging designed by Cheri Payne called tada .... Twenty Four Carrots.  Finished top coming soon ......

Yesterday I finally was allowed to babysit Sweet Baby Girl (SBG)!  Mommy had to go to the dentist.  It had been a long time since I changed a diaper but it only took me two tries to become an expert again!

Lucky for me, Mommy has to go back to the dentist next Monday and I get to spend time with her again.

I think this time I will take handwork and give her the first lesson (of many) on how to work with wool!  But with a face like that it will be very hard for me to pick up thread and needle . . . . . .

It's been a very long time since I sent out an email newsletter for Shakerwood Woolens.  My website server changed the 3rd Party host of the email (sort of) and I somehow fell off the bandwagon.  In doing so I lost my email list.  I have signed up with a new host.  If you would like to receive a newsletter from Shakerwood Woolens, go to my website home page and sign up.  I promise you won't be bombarded with emails.  I could barely get one out once a month!

I have a finish for this year already!  Really just had to quilt and add the binding from last year's quilt but Hey, I'll take any finish I can.

This is Pleasant Thoughts by Cheri Payne and is available on my patterns page.  It may need some more quilting - I just echoed the wool applique and the sawtooth border - but it will hang in the booth better than it did.

Back on the show circuit ......

This weekend starts the new show season.  I hope everyone had a restful holiday season and is ready to start shopping and sewing again!  Below is the information that was sent to us by the promoters.  Read it all the way through.  There are sewing machine giveaways and Early Bird Specials.

I will be giving away a special kit to all customers that shop with me from 9am to 10am and spend more than $20.  This offer is good on BOTH days.

The next show is The Quilting and Fiber Art Marketplace in Sanford, NC.

The date and time of the show is Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 and Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, from 9 am – 5 pm at the Dennis Wicker Civic Center, 1801 Nash St., Sanford, NC 27330.  Admission is $5.00.  This show is all about Quilt and Yarn Shops!  This show is  a celebration that features small businesses and the people that run them.  Join us for a day of creativity, fabric, fiber, and food.  We have tried to feature the best vendors, with the best selection of merchandise available.  We have assembled more than 30 vendors for your shopping pleasure.  If shopping for fabric and yarn is not enough to entice you to Sanford, then let me tell you about our food!  Mrs. Lacy's Magnolia Tea House will be doing our food this year.  She will have wonderful sweets and coffee ready as you arrive and fabulous sandwiches and more sweets during the day.

The Early Bird will get the Worm!

On both days we will be giving away a sewing machine at 11 am and a gift basket at 4 pm.  We will also be giving away a grand prize basket at 5 pm on Saturday.

On Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 we will have a drawing for a Bernette 46 sewing machine at 11 am.  This drawing is sponsored by Loving Stitches of Fayetteville and the other vendors at QFAM.  The Bernette 46 is a nice little portable machine with 8 stitches, a thread cutter, snap-on presser feet and an automatic bobbin winder.  This is a fabulous machine for a beginner, a grandchild, or to carry back and forth to quilting class.

Loving Stitches has also donated a gift basket, valued at $200 that we will draw for at 4 pm on Friday.

On Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 we will have a drawing for a Pfaff Hobby 1122 at 11 am.  This drawing is sponsored by Find X Designs of Sanford and the other vendors at QFAM. The Pfaff 1122 has a great selection of stitches, including a buttonhole.  It also has easy threading, many accessories and a hard carrying case.

At 4 pm on Saturday, we will give away a gift basket donated by all the vendors.

In order to win either machine, you must have your entry in the box by 11 am each day and the drawing will be held shortly thereafter.  You must be present to win either the machine or the gift baskets.  If you REALLY want to win, be one of the first 100 people in the door each morning and get two chances to win that day.  All entries collected throughout the day will be entered to win hourly prizes and the gift baskets at 4 pm each day.

The Grand Prize Basket will be drawn on Saturday at 5 pm from all the names and phone #s/emails collected during both days.  The winner will be notified and arrangements made to collect the prize.

So plan to get up early and spend the day with us, shopping, eating and just having fun.  You might even win a prize, and if that’s not enough, many of the vendors will be featuring early morning specials on selected items from 9 am to 10 am.

Hope to see you there!
