Quilts in Wilmington . . . . .

I haven't taken many pictures at the quilt shows I attend but there were several that caught my eye this time.  One of my favorite ones was a beautifully made quilt with loads of detail.  It's an ode to Harry Potter - one of our family's favorite movie/books series.  That's not the official name.  I don't remember the official name but it was a really cool quilt.

If you enlarge the picture, you can see all the blocks the maker added.  She had the crest from the 4 houses .....

Aragog .....

Helga Hufflepuff .....

I don't know if you can tell, but Helga's cameo and bracelet are real.  The lace collar and cuffs are real,  too.  And the feathers in her cap and hand are all done by hand.  This block was hand quilted.  Not all of them were but a few were.  Such detail!!

And of course, there was Harry!

None of these blocks were panels or painted.  They were all created with a LOT of detail stitching.  I could have looked at that quilt for hours.

The maker said she had gotten permission from Warner Brothers Studio before she made it.

Another show, another blogger . . . . .

Today I met Faye for the first time at the show in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Faye's blog is Carolina Stitcher.  She not only does great cross-stitching but makes the cutest things with them.  She also makes the cutest project bags using cotton and WOOL.  She really surprised me when she gave one to me today!

I put my Ginghers on it so you can see how large it is.  I just happen to be working on a cross-titch project now that will fit in here perfectly.  The pouch is lined and even has some little scissors for a zipper pull!

Faye sells these on her blog.  At the top of the blog is a "Product and Services" tab.  You need to check out all her adorable project bags she has made.

Thank you, Faye!  It was great to meet you!!

We went to this one last year and had a blast.  The times and dates have changed a little but still will be a nice show.  If you are anywhere near the Atlantic Ocean somewhere between Virginia Beach and Charleston, come on over and visit us.

This year we will have a double booth so we can fit in lots of wool and homespuns and patterns and books.

Wool Barn update . . . . .

I haven't posted a Wool Barn update in quite a while.  I am still not out there full-time because of lack of insulation/temperature issues.  I can tolerate it first thing in the morning until about noon and then in the evening after the sun goes behind the trees until midnight LOL.  Dear Hubby is trying his best to get it done but he has until the end of July to finish his Masters and that is more important right now.  I can work around that.

Here are some pics of what I have added and how messy it is!

This is one half of my cutting table.  Two IKEA kitchen base cabinets without doors.  Love the bins.  Under $5.00 with the lid at IKEA.  They hold kits-in-progress.  I will add the same size cabinets to the back of this when I make more money so I will have a 48" x 72" cutting table!

On the left is the cabinet that I showed a few months ago with two sets of drawers for all my "stuff".  You can see a wall of wool texture samples hanging next to the window.  That's a lot of different textures!  The black dresser behind my Goodwill find chair holds my office and kit supplies.

To the right of my Goodwill chair is 5 frames with 4 baskets each - also from IKEA - filled with my personal stash.  Not all of the baskets are even filled.  Two have kits that I haven't bought  the plastic bins for yet and one has wool.

I hate being this cluttered with stuff sitting on every flat surface but until I can get the rest of the cabinets and shelves in place that I want, there just isn't enough room for all my stuff. And NO I don't have too much stuff.  It will all fit in some day.  I have a plan!
