Another beautiful Wednesday in the Carolinas!

A week from today, I will be headed to Fayetteville, NC for the North Carolina Symposium.  This year it is sponsored by the Tarheel Quilters and will be held on the Methodist College campus.

While this is more of a retreat with classes being the main focus, there is a quilt show and vendors that is open to the public (entrance fee of $6.00).  There will be 21 vendors there so well worth the drive.

I am hoping to have this close to finished with the kit available.

It's 'Calico Baskets' by Cheri Payne.  The wools are selected and the fusible web is cut out.  Just a little hand work at night should do the trick!

The public portion of the event runs .......

May 23, 2013      Thursday           9am-6pm
May 24, 2013      Friday               9am-7pm
May 25, 2013      Saturday           9am-7pm
May 26, 2013      Sunday             9am-noon (some vendors will be open)

I am restocked on the Vine Rolls (they sold out quickly!) and almost all of the charm packs are finished.

I'm getting lots of help from Sweet Baby Girl so I should be ready for you!

Go to the Tarheel Quilters website for more information.

I've been trying! . . . . .

I've been trying to carve out some time to post about my trip to the mountains of West Virginia but I've been just so busy with dyeing wool and keeping Sweet Baby Girl!  I didn't even get a chance to take the sewing machine out of the car until Monday .... a week after I got back!!

Suffice it to say, we had a blast!  I finished/started 5 projects .... stayed up much too late and got up much too early.  So it wasn't a restful weekend but it was a much needed weekend.  I will definitely be back!!  There were 45 of us there ....... rughookers and quilters and some that were both.

The Woolen Willow sisters (and their parents) were great!  We even had a visit from a new quilt designer that made her first public appearance ....... Ms. Beverly Bouchet (aka sister Sally).

The setting couldn't have been better (except maybe a little warmer in the morning LOL) .....

and like I said, I did quite a bit of work ......

A Kim Diehl freebie .. that just needs the wool touches
A secret baby quilt project that just needs layering, quilting and binding.
A Cheri Payne freebie from her blog last year.  Sorry don't remember which month it was.
And another Cheri freebie from last month.  Mine's not as scrappy as hers  and I still want to add some more wool applique.
And there is a 5th project which is just sections of pieces so no picture.  I hope I can find time soon to do the handwork and quilt them but the dye pots are calling ....... again!

Hope you can join us on one of the retreats The Woolen Willow has .......

Blessings, Cathi
