A midsummer's .... quilt show ......

You thought I was going to say dream, didn't you?

I spent the day with Dear Hubby setting up for a quilt show in Mooresville, NC.  What a distraction from the heat we are having in the Carolinas.  100° today and the same for tomorrow.  So what better way to cool down than to view some beautiful quilts and shop one of the 11 vendors that are there.

Of course, wool should be on the top of your list.  As I mentioned yesterday, there are only 5 months until Christmas and you REALLY need to start your Christmas projects, decorations and gifts!

Among the new things in the booth this month .....

the new "hot of the presses" copy of Primitive Quilts and Projects.  They all came in the mail Tuesday!

Also, just added last week is this quarters copy of the Wool Street Journal.  $9.99 each.

The Wool Street Journal is geared mostly for rug hookers but they have started adding other projects like wool applique, dye recipes for those that like to dye their own wool, and little stories.  $11.00 each.

And if you need to convince Hubby to come with you, tell him that Mooresville/ Huntersville area is home to 80% of the NASCAR teams including Penske, Hendrick and Earnhardt Racing.  Most of the shops offer tours.

Another REALLY fun side trip in Mooresville is the Memory Lane Museum located at 769 River Highway.  Dear Hubby and I went through this one.  Cars as old as the early 1900's, race cars, midget race cars, old bicycles, an old still (after all, NASCAR is built on old moonshine!), cars that movie studios have borrowed for old-style movies.  Even I enjoyed it and I am NOT a car proficionado!

A little something for everyone!

Only 5 months until Christmas . . . . . . . I'm just sayin'

but also only 5 months until our precious, little granddaughter gets here!

Nope, that's not her but it is a picture of her mommy at 3 days old.

I hope she looks just like her mommy ......

My next "little" project . . . .

I don't know how long or how little this really is.
I've never made a penny rug this large before.
But here are the parts . . . . .

345 penny circles cut out with fusible web on the back ready to go.

Only 4 colors . . . . and 3 sizes . . . .

All ready to be put together in 115 triple-stack pennies.

I haven't decided on the thread color yet.  The base fabric is in the first picture under the pennies.  Many of you are doing "hexies".  These are my hexies ..... something to grab and carry with me when I have a spare minute to do a little stitching.

A FaceBook Reminder . . . . .

A gentle reminder that you have to "Like" my Shakerwood Woolens FaceBook page to be entered in the drawing.  It's the "Like" button just under the header.

Some people are just "like" -ing the picture or the post or leaving a comment.

Good luck!

A new FaceBook giveaway from me to you .......

I will be giving away this penny rug that I made to the lucky winner of a drawing.  The contestants?  Anyone that "likes" me on my Shakerwood Woolen's Facebook page before July 31st.

Sorry, the enamel coffee pot isn't included......

If you already "like" me there, you are automatically entered.  It's already put together so those of you that think you can't thread a needle or don't like to work with wool ...... well, you have no excuse!

If you "like" me just on my personal page, that doesn't count - you have to "like" me on both pages. But hey, what's not to like!?

Blessings, Cathi

ps. And not to leave you non-FaceBookers out of the fun ....... another contest will be coming here in blogland soon!

Dear Hubby and I went into the ocean yesterday together (sorry, NO pictures) while at a family reunion on Emerald Isle, NC.  We commented that it had been almost 10 years since we had even been in the ocean.  My bathing suit still fit and did not disintegrate from dry rot.   Obviously this was a long overdue trip.

But lest ye think I was totally without work .....

a few sneak peaks at some projects that I have worked on the last few days.

Since it had been such a long time since I basked in the sun like that, I will be inside today doing more handwork.  A few select parts couldn't take anymore sun ......

Sometimes it's the little things . . . . .

I've had these cabinets in the Wool Barn since April.

Today I thought was the perfect day to add drawer pulls and doors.

About 15 minutes of my time ....... really? That's kind of sad .....

Still have more door knobs to buy.  And how long will that take, hhhmmmm?

I'm another step closer to finishing this baby quilt that The Married One volunteered me for.

I finished machine quilting the flowers this afternoon, making this an official flimsie.

The baby receiving this quilt ...... someday ...... is about 15 months old now.  I think since it will probably be washed many times that I need to do a simple cross-hatch even through the applique.

I'll keep you posted .....

HELP - Need more wool space . . . . .

I am cleaning out some of my bins and boxes to make more storage room for wool.  I have some things that really must go to a good* home.

* (definition of good is to a home that will actually quilt the top! LOL)

I have had these tops for much too long.  After a conversation with myself (that didn't take long!), all three of us - me, myself and I - have decided to part with some old friends.

They are all listed on my ETSY account.  So why not hop on over there.  I am sure they would be happier living with you than neglectful me!

Buggy Barn Hearts  * SOLD *
Buggy Barn Baskets
Flower Baskets  *SOLD*
Thimbleberries Club Summer
I'll be adding a few more over the next several days.
